SI REASONING is a multi-instrument musician, improvisational dancer, performance artist, naturalist and digital photographer. He developed a love of the natural world while living in the rain forest on the Big Island of Hawai'i. His creations reflect the serenity and wildness of the natural world. |
Mathew GoetheMATHEW GOETHE has been improvising since he got his first plastic guitar at age 2. Since then he has played in various noise bands in Atlanta such as Black Blacks, Pony Law, and Pony Bones, as well as with various musicians from the Montevallo noise scene and Quilted Crystal Orchestra. In 2008 he began presenting solo works as Cedro Danado. His current project utilizes many zither-like instruments that were popularized in the early 20th century along with lyrics that are either improvised on the spot or written just before performing. As an addendum to his musical activity, he is also working on a book-length manuscript of poetry, much of which has been culled from former sets. Kathleen HairstonKATHLEEN HAIRSTON has been playing song based and improvised music for over ten years under various project titles including Mars Killed Mary, Mar Mar and Karst. Living in various places over the years- including Lawrence, KS; Atlanta, GA; Birmingham, AL; and now Montevallo, AL- she has played with numerous outsider/folk/noise groups including the infamous Atlanta bands "Hubcap City" and "Black Blacks" as well as with Them Natives and Quilted Crystal in Birmingham. Bosch Institute"Why Not Make Something Up? The BOSCH INSTITUTE is comprised of composer/musician/recording artist Daniel Arite and poet/performer/collage artist Thandiwe Shiphrah. Bosch Institute Concerts are known for dynamic oratory, original music drawn from jazz, bluegrass, and classical works, and stirring poetry that celebrates life and creativity. Through the creation of audio collage, they demonstrate how poetry and music inform and enhance each other. Their audio collages can range from simple guitar and poetry compositions to Scott Bazar"SCOTT BAZAR: (video conduction)guitarist for improv space rock group Disco Vato, notorious grindcore band Pig Chicken and noise merchants Dog Wayne Anderson:(drums)percussionist for Disco Vato. SCOTT BAZAR & PICO DORADO will be performing at Dixie Fried at the Bottletree on Aug. 13. Brady SharpBRADY SHARP discovered improvised music in the mid-90s and with Andrew Mays, Matt Hamilton, and Drew Rydberg, formed Voight-Kampff Music. He has continued to put on improvised music shows in Nashville, and has had the fortune of playing with the reputable likes of Peter Kowald, Chris Cutler, LaDonna Smith, Gino Robair, Susan Alcorn, Tatsuya Nakatani and many others. After a short-lived but well-received trio with Duane Denison (Jesus Lizard) and Brian Kotzur, Brady now plays with Dave Maddox (reeds) in the Bluff Duo.
David MaddoxDAVID MADDOX has been active in improvised music in Nashville, Houston, Chicago, and Washington DC and currently plays with the Cherry Blossoms, Forest Bride, and the duo Bluff with Brady Sharp. Among the musicians and bands he has played with are Susan Alcorn, Carol Genetti, Jim Baker, Philip Gayle, Warren Leming, John Sinclair, Robert Pearson, Jon Matis, Tom Bickley, Mr. Natural, Carl Smith, Tatsuya Nakatani, Rotten Piece, and Hands Off Cuba.
Mark OlivieriMARK OLIVIERI, Composer in Residence in the Department of Dance at The College at Brockport , has played/composed for luminaries such as Jose Limon, Sean Curran, and Doug Varone. Olivieri is Artistic Director of the Vision of Sound New Music and Dance Festival, and Assistant Director of the Musselman Arts Triathlon- a twelve hour arts performance at the Smith Opera House in Geneva, N.Y.- where musicians, dancers, and visual artists come together to collaborate in the arts.
Charles Norman Mason"CHARLES NORMAN MASON has been recognized repeatedly for his originality and attention to color. Steve Smith of The New York Times writes “’Additions’ by Charles Mason , offered a nearly seamless integration of electronic and acoustic sounds…” and Peter Burwasser of Fanfare has noted that Mason’s music speaks in a “boldly, original voice”. High Performance Review states that the music is “full of invention… Charlie RauhCHARLIE RAUH works as an improviser/composer with solo guitar, with his trio with Ken Coomer and Bryn Davies, his collaborations with choreographer Megan Harrold, and various other collaborative projects. He has been awarded grants from The Herndon Arts Council, The Untitled Artists Group, and The Klaustrid Foundation and will serve as composer in residence in Skriduklaustur Iceland for the month of September 2010. Rauh has performed his original works at such venues as the Lincoln Center in New York City, the Life Force Art Center in Chicago, and the Center For The Arts Theater in Murfreesboro, TN. As stated by the artist, "My improvisational solo project is heavily influenced by the work of Hildegard Von Bingen. The pieces thrive on sparse melodic passages engulfed in dense harmonic atmospheres that focus on simplicity, the interpretation of sense memory, and realist perception." |
